Trends come and go, fashions change. eight8eight is still the benchmark.
The 2009 styling reflects a change away from hubstack play. To reflect this more weight has been added to bring the unstacked weight to a more acceptable XXgm
Lessons learnt in the highwall experiments (and with the skyline) are evident in the 2009 shape. The increased stability now allows for the use of Z-stacks inverted and regular).
Other areas of change, stack play is overall smoother and a new spec stack bearing creates phenomenal spin times. The response area remains the same but a new stock pad has been developed in conjunction with Kentaro Kimura of the YYF Contest team.
This pad was used by the top two place getters at the 2008 World Yo-yo Contest Single A division. The small bearing version is also back in 2009 featuring a smaller diameter traditional Kentaro pad response.

Unfortunately the next run of these yoyos was cancelled (Nov 2007). There will be a new version of the 888, called the 08 888. Due late 2007.

Recessed silicon response system. The silicon will wear and may come lose: you are advised to consider purchasing some Flowable Silicon for repairs and maintenance. Please see the yoyo accessories section.
